Memorize: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness; 2 Timothy 4:7&8
Devotional Reading: 2 Timothy 4: 1-8
Yesterday, we looked at “Triumph through Patience” Today, we are looking at “The Fight of Faith”
The testimony of Paul in 2 Timothy 4; should be the aspiration and pursuit of every believer. It is impossible to over emphasise the need to fight the fight of faith, this is the whole essence of life in relation to our Christian journey. It is a major criteria to experience “Triumph”. Anyone who does not keep the faith and endure to the end will find it difficult to experience Triumph. Life without the fight of faith will become miserable life; Apostle Paul referred to such people to be “of all men most miserable’ 1 Corinthians 15:19;
There are many people who are currently living miserable lives all because they could not fight the good fight of faith. For most of them, fear has replaced faith, doubt has entered into their hearts, even when help is very near, they live in hopelessness, they cannot see or think straight, they are worried, confused and lost.
Those who have lost their faith in Christ and cannot fight the good fight of faith; have lost their spiritual race in life. God has called many people into his kingdom of rest and triumph but few have released themselves to be chosen – Matthew 22:14; “For many are called but few are chosen”.
Amongst the few that are chosen very few will keep the faith to the end, and receive the crown of life. You have to strive vigorously to be included amongst the very few that will fight the fight of faith to the end and finish well. Don’t deny your faith under any circumstances; not everyone who denied their faith would have the privilege to repent and bounce back like Apostle Peter, majority end in destruction like Judas. St Luke admonished us to “Strive to enter in at the gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. – Luke 13:24; Beware, careless Christians will not finish well because they cannot fight the fight of faith. Heaven is prepared for tried and tested people, those who fought and kept their faith in Christ Jesus, even to the end.
To finish well takes more than just going to church, reading the bible and praying. Finishing well requires consecration; self denial; principled and practical Christian living; dying to self; holiness and implicit obedience to the law’s of God. There is no compromise with God, He will not allow compromisers to enter through the gate of Heaven. The principle of God is “All, or Nothing”. Either we accept and obey all the “Thus saith the LORD”, or fail in one and lose it all. It is a very strict standard, but achievable by the Grace of God.
We are currently at the end time, the world is in so much confusion with all that is happening around us, many have died and went into lost eternity, but you are still alive, there is hope for you.
Give your life to Christ today if you have not already done so, and stay in the faith, the trumpet can sound at any time, the rapture will take place, where will you spend eternity? There are only two eternal destinations and they are real “Heaven OR Hell”
May the LORD give you the grace to live in obedience to His word, so that you like Apostle Paul can Fight the Fight of Faith and keep the faith to the end in Jesus name.
Prayer point: O Lord, please release unto me the Grace and power to Fight the Fight of Faith and keep the Faith to the end in Jesus name.
Key Dose: It is the will of God for you to fight to the end, keep the faith and finish well.
