THE GREAT PROVIDER

Memorize: For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, the barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruise of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth 1 Kings 17:14.

Devotional Reading: 1 Kings 17:9-16; Luke 5:1-9.

Growing up as a child, i remember that sometimes our domestic needs in my family get to a critical point, on some occasions, we were very hungry and there was no item of food at home, my siblings and i went to our mum & ask what to do, my mum replied us in our local language that “our God will provide” she asked us to go on our knees and tell Him our need, we obeyed, not quite an hour later, a man came to visit us and brought so much food stuff for us that lasted us over a month he also gave us money to prepare stew, it was a great miracle to us. All through the years I iived with my mum, we never lacked, God proved himself to us that He is a great provider.

The widow at Zarephat is another person who experienced God practically as a provider, she also came to a critical point in her domestic need, with very little food left enough just for her and her son to eat and die because there was no hope of finding another food, it was a time of great famine with severe draught in the land, a guest suddenly came in hungry and request for food. The widow experienced the power of a God to provide.

In Matthew 15; Jesus saw the multitude was hungry after listening to Him teach for three days. Jesus being full of faith told the disciples to gather the seven loaves of bread and fishes available, He blessed the food and sent the disciples to serve the crowd with these items. Vs 38, And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

Another occasion that demonstrated the power of our God to provide was in Luke 5; the skilled fishermen have worked all night and caught nothing, at early hours when they had given up, Jesus appeared and instruct Simon to Launch out into the deep and let down their nets for a catch. And what a catch it turned out to be – a boat-sinking, net breaking catch, it was such a big and unexpected catch that Peter and all who were with him were “astonished at the huge catch of fishes which they had taken” Beloved, see God’s heart for you today, he wants to prosper you. Don’t settle for anything less.

You may start out poor when you follow God, but you cannot remain or end poor when you follow the God who is a great provider. In fact, like Peter, you too will be astonished that God supplies more than what you need and beyond what you have asked!

Our resident pastor at our Ajah branch, in Lagos Island had similar experience that my family had, he shared his testimony with me sometime ago.

Whatever your needs, situations or circumstances, if you too can put your trust in God our great provider, you too will be astonished at how great God is to provide. This month is our month of “Divine Lifting” May God lift you up high to the level of great abundance in Jesus mighty name.

Prayer point: O LORD, my great provider, please provide for me abundantly today in Jesus name.

Key Dose: God is constantly looking for those He can show himself strong and mighty on their behalf, trust Him, He make provisions available for you.
